WASB Presents: FUEL – 8/26/10

“UNABASHEDLY INTIMATE”…Thanks to an informative, buoyant tone and the director’sown restless intelligence, the film preaches to the unconverted with passion, energy and graphics so clear that they would make Al Gore weep all over his PowerPoint.”
- Jeannette Catsoulis, NEW YORK TIMES
WASB Presents: FLOW

“An astonishingly wide-ranging film. An informed and heartfelt examination of the tug of war between public health and private interests.”- New York Times.
A Convo With Carol
The full moon was out again and so was the crew from Werewolves and Silver Bullets. After watching the movie Crude (which touches on the effects oil drilling has on local communities), we got on the phone with Carol Clark of the Dauphin Island Bed and Breakfast in Alabama and were able to hear first hand about how the BP oil spill was effecting her community. She told us how all of the reservations for her B&B had been canceled, people on the island were starting to go hungry, her neighbor had committed suicide and how their water supply might be contaminated, forcing them to leave the island for more than 2 years. All of this was (and still is) happening in our country…crazy! Our conversation with Carol hit everyone very deeply so we decided to pool our money together ($109) to make a humble effort towards helping Carol and her community keep fighting through this crisis.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol and her Dauphin Island community. Thank you to everyone who contributed and continue to share the story. To get in touch with Carol visit www.dauphinhouse.com.

CRUDE travels to South America, where it investigates the mammoth “Amazon Chernobyl” case from a variety of angles, refusing to take the side of any single person or side. Though it is a non-fiction documentary in form, Berlinger’s film has the pull of a legal drama where human life and the environment are at stake. “
BEER WARS Photo Recap
A great night was had by all…some, more than others.

WASB Presents: BEER WARS! Sponsored by Pyramid Brewery

From Rotten Tomatoes: “This truly American tale looks at the struggle between big breweries (Coors, Miller, and Budweiser) and their smaller competition (such as Dogfish Head) as the companies fight for shelf space and bar orders. Directed by Anat Baron, this documentary not only looks at the beer industry, but also examines the plight of small businesses in America.“

Jan. Screening @ Labracadabra
Below are some photos from the Jan. Werewolves and Silver Bullets screening of “The Corporation”. The venue for this evening was at Labracadabra, a joint creative venture in West Side Costa Mesa. The evening was marvelous and filled with friends, drinks, laughs, and dancing. The film ended abruptly about an hour in due to some technical difficulties, albeit people hit the dance floor hard, and never looked back. Enjoy, and look forward to seeing you at the next one!
